February 2017 Wrap Up

February was an ok reading month for me. I read a total of five books.

1.) The Start of Me and You by Emery Lord

2.) Outlander by Diana Gabaldon

3.) Maybe One Day by Melissa Kantor

4.) Rites of Passage by Joy N. Hensley

5.) Wrecked by Maria Padian

These were all good. I would say my favorite was Rites of Passage by Joy N. Hensley. It just sucked me in and I could not put it down. My least favorite was Outlander by Diana Gabaldon. I could not get into. I tried so hard, but it just was not for me.

I will have reviews for all of these books up soon.

Book Review: From Where I Watch You

I’ve recently finished reading From Where I watch You by Shannon Grogan. This book is a mystery romance. I can honestly say that I did not like this book. I pushed myself to read the whole thing hoping it would get better, but it didn’t. I thought I would like it because it’s about a baker and I’m a baker, but the story just wasn’t for me. The only things I liked about this book were the recipes in the back of the book and how gorgeous the front cover is. It’s so beautiful. I would rate this book two out of five stars.

Tome Topple Readathon TBR

The Tome Topple Readathon is a readathon that focuses on big books that are 500 pages or more. Now I heard about this readathon on youtube. The readathon runs from November 18th-December 1st. I don’t have a lot of books that have 500+ pages, so this is going to be like a regular readathon for me. I still wanted to participate.

Now here is my TBR:

1.) Hooked by Liz Fichera

(I’ve already finished this one, so go read my review on it.)

2.) From Where I watch You by Shannon Grogan

(I’m currently reading this.)

3.) A Mom for Christmas by Lorraine Beatty

4.) Keeping Cole’s Promise by Cheryl Harper

5.) Amazing Grace by Kathleen Norris

Wish me luck!

Book Review: Hooked

Wow! This book was so good. I didn’t want to put it down. Hooked is written by Liz Fichera. It’s about a girl who joins the boys’ golf team at her high school with the hopes of taking her team to the championships. A lot of stuff goes down in this book including a romance. I think the drama was a little over the top, but it really made for a good read. I’m definitely picking up the sequel. My rating for this book is four out of five stars.

Life Update !

Hello All-

I’m sorry I haven’t posted anything in a few months. I guess you could say that life got busy. I’ve been really struggling to get through this semester at school and trying to figure out what I want to do and study next semester. I think I have finally chosen a major, which is early childhood education. I’ll be starting this area of study in January, with the hopes of getting my certificate in this field soon. I have been reading, so don’t worry. I really miss blogging and one of my goals for the rest of this year and next year is to make time to blog. Hopefully I stick to this. Happy reading!

Let’s see how I do with these because school starts and then I won’t have as much time for reading as I would like.

Review: Losing It

Oh my goodness! This book was so good, I read it in two days. I loved everything about this book. I loved the characters, plot, writing style, just everything.

Losing It is by Cora Carmack. It is about a girl who is in her final semester of college and is tired of being the only virgin in her circle of friends. So she has a plan to go to a bar and meets a guy to have a one night stand with. But her plan seems to fail when she freaks out and leaves the guy alone in her bed. Little does she know, her one night stand mishap is actually her new theatre professor.

This book was fantastic. Cora Carmack is an amazing writer . I can’t wait to read the next book in the series. My rating for this book is five out of five stars.

Book Review: The Last One

I have recently read a book called The Last One by Alexandra Oliva. I received this book for review from Penguin Random House. It comes out in July 2016. I honestly cannot tell you what this book is about as I could not get into it and I did not finish it. I only read one chapter and just did not understand it. I do not like the writing style or anything. I just thought it was boring. All I can tell you is that this book is a cross between reality television and The Hunger Games.

“So Close To Home” Review

I received “So Close To Home” by Michael J. Tougias and Alison O’Leary for review from Pegasus Books. This book is non-fiction. It is about a family and their struggle for survival in World War II.

What I really liked about this book is the authors’ writing. It was very descriptive and detailed. I felt like I was actually there and a part of the story. I also really loved the maps and looking at the photos from that point in history. I would recommend this book and I rated it three out of five stars.
