Review: Back Roads to Belonging- Unexpected Paths to Finding Your Place and Your People

I received a free copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Back Roads to Belonging: Unexpected Paths to Finding Your Place and Your People by Kristen Strong is a non-fiction inspirational book about how to follow your heart and God on your path to your belonging place. Strong uses her story and other people’s stories to teach you how to get to where you belong.

My favorite part of the book is the “Belonging Blessing” at the end of each chapter. Each blessing relates back to the focus or bible story for that chapter. Some themes Strong discusses in her book are compassion, encouragement, perseverance, and peace.

Overall, I absolutely loved this book. I thought it was well written and inspiring. It will stay with me wherever I go. I would recommend this book to anyone who is struggling to find their belonging place or to anyone who wants to check it out.

Review: Breathe Again- How to Live Well When Life Falls Apart

I received a free copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. I am very grateful to the publisher for sending me a copy.

Breathe Again: How to Live Well When Life Falls Apart by Niki Hardy is a very inspirational non-fiction book about how to breathe again and not just survive after a traumatic event in your life. Not only does Hardy share tips to help others deal with their traumatic events, she also shares her story and other people’s stories about how they got through traumatic events and life afterward. Hardy also discusses bravery and courage and what it means to be brave and courageous during difficult times.

My favorite part of the book is when Hardy talks about trusting God. She refers to Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.”

I found this book to be truly inspirational and well written. Overall, I loved this book and would recommend it to anyone that wants to check it out or is looking for some inspiration.

Review: Things You Save in a Fire

I received a free review copy from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Things You Save in a Fire by Katherine Center is a book about a female firefighter, Cassie Hanwell who is as tough as any man. Even though Cassie is tough, deep down she has issues with accepting love and forgiveness. There is a lot of depth and interesting sub-plots to this story.

Center weaves together the challenges of a female firefighter in an all male firehouse, the relationship with her estranged mother, and overcoming her past to experience love. She does a great job of bringing the characters to life allowing the reader to feel sympathy and empathize with the challenges Cassie experiences.

I very much enjoyed this book. The writing flowed together nicely through the various sub-plots. I admired Cassie’s strength in a traditionally “man’s world,” as well as her vulnerabilities.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It was entertaining and captivating. If you love books that hold a lot of substance, I would highly recommend this one.
